IPv4 Address Checker

This test connects to an IPv4-only endpoint to confirm your connection works over IPv4 and to show your public IPv4 address. You can also check whether any IPv4 address is valid, private or public.

Tool status: Uses an external service Relies on a third-party API that may be rate-limited or temporarily unavailable.

Check any IPv4 address

What this tool can and cannot do

The connectivity test uses an external IPv4-only service (ipify). Corporate firewalls or content blockers can block it, which would show as "not detected" even when IPv4 works.

Data sources: ipify (api4.ipify.org)

Understanding the results

Almost every connection supports IPv4. If yours does not, you may be on an IPv6-only network that uses translation (NAT64) to reach IPv4 websites.

Troubleshooting

  • Not detected: disable ad or script blockers for this site and run the test again.

Frequently asked questions

How many IPv4 addresses exist?

IPv4 uses 32-bit addresses, giving about 4.3 billion combinations. They ran out years ago, which is why ISPs share addresses (carrier-grade NAT) and why IPv6 was created.
