Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Template: this policy must be reviewed and completed (owner name, jurisdiction) before launch. Consider professional legal advice for your situation.

This policy explains what information IPandNet.com (“we”, “us”), operated by [OWNER NAME – complete in config], processes when you use this website, why, and what choices you have. Our approach is simple: we process only what a tool needs to work, and we do not sell personal data.

1. Information processed when you use our tools

Your IP address

Like every website, our server receives your IP address with each request. We display it back to you and use it to provide IP-related tools. We do not store your IP address in a database. Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server access logs (which include IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting for a limited period.

For rate limiting (to protect our tools from abuse) we store a one-way, salted hash derived from your IP address and request timestamps for up to two hours. The hash cannot practically be turned back into your IP. IP lookup results may be cached for up to six hours under a similar hash to reduce calls to third-party providers.

Speed, latency and health tests

Speed tests transfer randomly generated data between your browser and our test server. Results are calculated in your browser and are not saved on our servers. Your recent results may be kept in your own browser's session storage until you close the tab. Health reports are generated in your browser and are not stored by us.

Domains and IPs you enter

When you look up a domain, URL or IP address, it is sent to our server and, where needed, to the third-party services listed below. We do not keep a record of your queries, apart from routine server error logs if something goes wrong.

Contact form

If you contact us, we process your name, email address and message to reply to you. A copy of each message is kept in a protected folder on our hosting server and deleted automatically after 90 days; it may also be delivered to our mailbox by email and kept there only as long as needed to handle your enquiry.

2. Third-party services that receive data

Some tools only work by asking an external service. Depending on the tool you use, the following may receive your IP address or your query:

ServiceUsed forWhat it receives
IPinfo (ipinfo.io) – IPinfo LiteApproximate country, network and ASN for an IP addressYour IP address or the IP you look up (sent from our server, never from your browser). If IPinfo is unavailable, the regional internet registry responsible for the address receives it instead (see RDAP below)
ipify (api4/api6.ipify.org)IPv4/IPv6 detectionYour IP address (your browser connects directly)
Public DNS resolvers (Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, OpenDNS, AdGuard, Mullvad, DNS.SB, Quad101/TWNIC)DNS toolsThe domain you query (from our server); for the DNS Comparison tool your browser queries them directly
OpenStreetMap tile servers (or the map provider configured by us)Interactive map in the IP panelYour IP address and the map area displayed (your browser loads the map images directly); jsDelivr CDN delivers the open-source Leaflet map library
Google STUN server (stun.l.google.com)WebRTC leak test, health reportYour IP address (your browser connects directly)
IEEE Registration AuthorityMAC vendor lookupNothing about you – our server downloads the public manufacturer list and searches it locally
Domain registries and regional internet registries (via IANA RDAP bootstrap)WHOIS / RDAP lookup, ASN lookup, fallback IP detailsThe domain, IP or ASN you look up (sent from our server)

Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy.

3. Advertising

We plan to show advertising through Google AdSense. When ads are enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can manage personalised advertising at Google Ad Settings and learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Where required by law (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), ads will be shown only after you make a choice in a consent message.

4. Cookies and local storage

See our Cookie Policy. Without advertising or analytics enabled, we set no cookies; we use your browser's local storage only to remember that you dismissed the cookie notice.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)

We process data to provide the tools you request (performance of a service), to protect our website from abuse (legitimate interests), and for advertising cookies, on the basis of your consent where required.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to processing of your personal data, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Because we do not keep tool usage linked to individuals, there is usually no stored data to retrieve. To exercise your rights, use our contact page.

7. Children

This website is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

8. Security

We use HTTPS throughout, security headers, input validation and rate limiting. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.

9. Changes

We may update this policy and will change the “last updated” date above.
