What this tool can and cannot do
Timings use encrypted DNS-over-HTTPS, which adds HTTPS overhead compared with classic DNS on port 53. The first query to each resolver includes connection setup and is shown separately. Some resolvers or networks block browser access; those are marked as unavailable rather than slow.
Data sources: Public DNS-over-HTTPS resolvers (queried by your browser)
Understanding the results
Look at the median "warm" time – it reflects normal use once a connection is open. Differences of a few milliseconds are not noticeable in everyday browsing.
Troubleshooting
- To change DNS, set it in your router (affects every device) or in your operating system or browser's secure DNS settings.
Frequently asked questions
Is a faster DNS resolver a faster internet?
Only for the moment a website is first looked up. It does not change download speed. Reliability and privacy policy are often more important than a few milliseconds.
